Soccer (W) (9/2/10) Women's Soccer Drops Season-Opener in Overtime
SALISBURY, NC – Host Catawba dropped their season opener against Belmont Abbey with a tough 1-0 loss in overtime on Thursday night in women’s soccer action at Frock Field. With the win Belmont starts their season with a 1-0 record and Catawba falls to 0-1.
 | Soccer (M) (9/2/10) Smith's Overtime Goal Lifts Men's Soccer to Season-Opening Win  MISENHEIMER, NC -- Catawba sophomore Carson Smith (Mooresville, NC/Mooresville HS) scored just a minute into the second overtime period to lift the visiting Indians to a 2-1 win over Pfeiffer in men’s soccer action on Thursday afternoon at Lefko Field. It marked the season opener for both squads.
 | Football (8/30/10) Radio Host Mark Packer To Be on Hand for Catawba's Home Football Opener Sept. 4  Popular sports radio host, Mark Packer, also known as "the Packman," will be on hand for Catawba's home football opener against St. Augustine on Saturday, Sept. 4. This game is also the first in a series of themed game days, with Police Officers, Firefighters and Emergency Responders to be admitted free along with three of their guests to the 7 p.m. match-up against St. Augustine.
 | Golf (M) (8/25/10) Former Men's Golf Team Member Earns Spot in National Long Drive Contest  A former member of the Catawba College men's golf team, Todd Janssen, has qualified for the National Long Drive Competition to be held November 2 in Mesquite, Nevada. Janssen was a four-year letterman for Catawba from 2005-09. He posted a 77.78 stroke average over 35 career rounds.
 | Cross Country (8/24/10) Cross Country Teams Voted Fifth and Sixth in SAC Preseason Polls  ROCK HILL, SC -- Led by the return of its entire lineup from a year ago, the Catawba men were picked fifth in the 2010 South Atlantic Conference preseason coaches’ poll. The women, who return five runners, were voted sixth.
 | Swimming (8/22/10) Owens Picks Up Second Relay Gold at IPC Swimming World Championships  EINDHOVEN, THE NETHERLANDS – Catawba sophomore Ashley Owens (Stockbridge, GA/Stockbridge HS) picked up her third gold medal at the 2010 International Paralympic Committee Swimming World Championships, helping the 4 x 100 medley relay team to a win on Friday night at the Pieter Van Den Hoogenband Swimming Stadium. Owens completed the meet with a fifth place finish in the three mile open water swim on Saturday. Owens finished the world championships with four medals (3 gold, 1 silver).
