Lacrosse falls 8-5 to Wheeling Jesuit

SALISBURY, NC -- Wheeling Jesuit built a 5-1 halftime lead and went on to defeat host Catawba 8-5 in menís lacrosse action on Saturday afternoon at Shuford Stadium and Kirkland Field. Catawba falls to 2-2, while the Cardinals improve to 3-0. Mark Greaney (Detroit, MI), Tim Parker (Chesterfield Township, MI) and Dennis McKenna (Detroit, MI) each had two goals for the Cardinals. Jason Windett (Magnolia, DE) had two goals and two assists for Catawba, including the lone first half goal with 47 seconds remaining in the first quarter. A McKenna goal midway through the third quarter gave Wheeling Jesuit a 6-1 lead. Catawba scored twice before the quarter ended to trail 7-3 and a goal by Joe Cristaldi (Highland, MD) brought the Indians within 7-4 with 8:32 left, but Greaney scored with 5:18 left for an 8-4 edge.
