Women's Lacrosse Gets Third Straight Win With 15-7 Performance Over Chowan

Saturday’ non-conference showdown started slowly with goals coming at a premium in the first quarter. It took over ten minutes for the game’s first goal, but Catawba was the first to strike. Senior Caroline Falcone slipped through the defense and beat the keeper for the game’s first score with 4:48 left in the first. Isabella Lehr scored two minutes later to make it a 2-0 game going to the second quarter.
Catawba’s attack came alive in the next two quarters. The Lady Indians outscored Chowan 11-4 in the second and third quarters to pull ahead to a 13-4 lead heading into the final 15 minutes. CatU added three more goals in the fourth to seal their third straight victory, 15-7.
Nine different players scored in today’s win led by Mercedez Boucicaut. Boucicaut scored four goals today and now has 14 goals and 17 total points through just four games. This puts her in the top-5 in the conference in goals so far this season.
Caroline Falcone had a hat-trick by netting three goals. She also added a pair of assists and a caused turnover.
Jade Williams had a pair of goals, and Joey Baillee, Ella McCusker, Isabella Lehr, and Colleen Green each had one to round out Catawba’s scoring.
Aryn Door made seven saves in front of the net, grabbed five ground balls, and caused two turnovers to help secure the win for Catawba.
The women’s lacrosse team will look to keep their win streak going next Saturday (March 6) when they host Gannon at noon.
