Big Mid-Game Run Leads Bulldogs Over Catawba

The Lady Indians netted the first goal of the contest when Michaela Lantz fired a shot past the keeper with 11:38 left in the opening quarter.
Wingate scored five goals in six minutes to quickly steal momentum and the lead, 5-1. Caroline Falcone added a free position shot goal to end the run, but the Bulldogs got one more in before the quarter ended to take a 6-2 advantage.
The second quarter started off on a positive note after Joey Baillie got through the defense and scored twice. This brought it to a two-goal game with 11:42 to play before halftime.
The Bulldogs dug in and ended the first half with five straight goals including four in a minute and a half span. At the break the score was 11-4.
Catawba was unable to get back on the board until six minutes left in the game, but by then, Wingate had added five more goals to make it a 16-5 final score.
The Lady Indians will look to get back on track this Saturday when Mars Hill comes to town for a 1:00 p.m. SAC game.
