SALISBURY, NC -- The Catawba College women's lacrosse team was held under twenty shots for the first time in the month of April as the Bears of Lenoir-Rhyne took down the Lady Indians, 9-6, on Wednesday evening.

LR got the first goal of the game three and a half minutes after the opening faceoff, but Caroline Falcone scored her 35th goal of the season at the ten-minute mark on an assist from Jade Williams.

The visitors went on to score three unanswered goals before the quarter was up as to increase their lead to 4-1.

Mercedez Boucicaut later gave the Lady Indians a jolt by scoring the only goal in the second quarter which brought it to a 4-2 score at halftime. Both teams combined for just five shots on goal in the second.

After the break, Lenoir-Rhyne notched three more goals and held Catawba scoreless until less than ten seconds remained in the third. The score favored LR, 7-3, heading into the fourth.

The Bears scored a dagger 23 seconds in to make it an 8-3 game, and even though the Lady Indians scored the last three of four goals, it was not enough.

Catawba fell at home, 9-6, putting them in the 7th-seed in the SAC standings heading into the regular season final against top-ranked Queens on Saturday.
