Dunnuck's five goals helps Lacrosse to 12-6 win at Pfeiffer

MISENHEIMER, NC -- Catawba senior David Dunnuck (Greensboro, NC) scored five goals as the Indians defeated host Pfeiffer 12-6 in Deep South Conference menís lacrosse action on Wednesday afternoon. Catawba improves to 5-3 overall and 2-0 in the DSC, while the Falcons fall to 2-4 and 1-2. Dunnuck scored three of the first four Tribe goals as Catawba built a 4-0 lead. Pfeiffer would get on the board with 2:17 left in the half on a tally by Eugene Thomas (Gaithersburg, MD). Trailing 5-1 at the half, the Falcons scored two quick goals to open the second half to pull within 5-3 at the 13:19 mark. Catawba answered later, scoring twice in a 16 second span to go up 7-3 with 10:09 left in the third quarter. Pfeiffer closed within 8-5 with 3:37 remaining in the third quarter after consecutive goals by Trevor Krauss (Owings, MD), but Dunnuck closed the quarter with his fifth goal for a 9-5 lead. Matt Riley (Baltimore, MD) scored twice in the fourth quarter to help the Indians stay in front. He had three assists on the day. Catawba held a 56-22 edge in shots and won 18 of 21 face-offs.
