2004 Football recruiting class grows to 15

   SALISBURY, NC -- The addition of nine recruits brings the Catawba College football class of 2004 signings to 15.  Joining the six early signings is Keith Brown, a defensive back from Tarboro HS, Ron Ellington, a defensive lineman from Independence HS, Joe Elmore, an offensive lineman from Greenville Rose HS, Josh Farmer, a wide receiver from Salisbury HS, Montonio Hand, a wide receiver from Kenan HS, Joe Howard, an athlete from Garinger HS, Bo Noah, a fullback from Southern Alamance HS, Antonio Strong, a wide receiver from West Charlotte HS and Tyanna Tuttle, an athlete/running back from North Davidson HS.
    The new additions join Pierre DeShauteurs, of Brevard, NC, Marcus Glenn, of Union, SC, Trey Glover, of Spartanburg, SC, Brandon McIntyre, of Burgaw, NC, Juan Quintarilla, of Faison, NC, and Eric Small, of Raleigh, NC.

    DeShauteurs, a 6-1, 250, defensive lineman was a four-year starter at Brevard High School.  He was a three-time all-conference performer and two-time conference defensive player of the year.  He was also two-time conference lineman of the year and a two-time all-area and All-Western North Carolina performer.  DeShauteurs recorded over 100 tackles in each of his last three seasons, finishing his career with 508 stops and a school record 30 sacks.  

    Glenn, a 5-11, 170, defensive back started at Union High School.  He helped the Yellow Jackets to a state championship.  As a senior he was named all-region and all-area as he recorded 39 tackles with three interceptions.  Glenn was a two-time all-region performer in track.

    Glover, a 6-1, 170, defensive back was a three-year starter at Dorman High School.  He helped the Cavaliers to a first-ever state title in 2003.  Glover was named to the all-area and all-region teams and played in the North-South All-Star Game.

    McIntyre, a 5-10, 175, defensive back/wide receiver was a four-year starter at Pender High School.  He earned all-conference honors, rushing for 890 yards and nine touchdowns as a senior.  He returned both a punt and kickoff for touchdowns and made 43 tackles on defense with a pair of interceptions.  For his career, McIntyre ran for 2,750 yards.

    Quintarilla, a fullback/linebacker from North Duplin High School was a four-time all-conference selection.  He was named the News-Argus Defensive Player of the Year as both a junior and senior and was an All-State nominee.  Quintarilla ran for 673 yards and seven scores as a senior and averaged 14 tackles per game.  He holds the school record for career tackles and was a four-time Iron Rebel (strongest male in school).

    Smalls, a 6-0, 235, linebacker was a four-year starter at Southeast Raleigh High School.  He was a three-time all-conference performer and was the 2003 conference defensive player of the year.  He played in the East-West All-Star Game and helped SE Raleigh to a pair of conference titles.  Smalls recorded a school-record 300+ tackles in his career and had 22 for losses over his final two seasons.  He added three interceptions and five fumble recoveries.  His 137 tackles as a junior also set a school mark.  Smalls was named the Raleigh Sports Council Athlete of the Year as he was also the 2003 NC State champion in the indoor shot put.
