Women's Soccer signs eight for 2004 campaignCatawba College women’s soccer coach, John Cullen, has announced eight signings for the 2004 season. Joining the squad for the upcoming season are Kathleen Blake, of Greensboro, NC, Ashley Boles, of Ft. Bragg, NC, Heather Ginn, of Scottsdale, AZ, Paige Harrington, of Albemarle, NC, Chelsea Hibbard, of Wilson, NY, Lindsay Hinkle, of Highland, MD, Lauren Whiteley, of Greensboro, NC, and Carrie Wollaston, of Landenberg, PA. “I am extremely pleased with this recruiting class,” stated Cullen. “Outside of Blake, who is a goalkeeper, the other newcomers are very versatile and can play several positions and will make for even more exciting play. We have added tremendous speed with this recruiting class.” Blake, a 5-7 goalkeeper, has started four years at Northwest Guilford High School. She was a two-time all-conference performer and was first team all-region and region keeper of the year last season as a junior. Blake helped the Vikings to the third round of the state playoffs in2003. She plays for the Greensboro Twisters Soccer Club. Boles, a 4-10 forward, has started four years at Smith High School. She was a two-time first team all-conference selection entering her senior year and was twice named to the all-tournament team. Boles was team MVP as a junior and plays for the U-18 Fayetteville Force Soccer Club. Ginn, a 5-3 midfielder, was a four-year starter at Desert Mountain High School. She was honorable mention all-conference for the regional champions, scoring 15 career goals with 23 assists. She also helped the Wolves to four state playoff appearances and a pair of conference titles. Ginn was a Arizona/New Mexico ODP performer and plays with the Sisco 86 Soccer Club. Harrington, a 5-2 forward, has been a four-year starter at Albemarle High School. She was league player of the year in 2003 and has twice been named all-conference. Harrington was selected to the All-Piedmont team as a junior and has helped the Bulldogs to three state playoff appearances and a conference title. She has 112 goals entering her senior year and plays for the Cabarrus Soccer Association. Hibbard, a 5-2 midfielder/defender from Wilson Central High School, is a transfer from Monroe Community College. She helped Monroe to the 2002 NJCAA National Championship and a runner up region finish in 2003, earning all-region honors. Hibbard was an all-state performer at Wilson Central, scoring 42 goals with a school record 49 assists. Hinkle, a 5-3 midfielder, was a four-year starter at River Hill High School. She was a two-time all-county performer as she helped River Hill to a pair of state championships and a 67-6-4 record. She was also part of three county and three regional championship teams. playoff appearances and a conference title. Hinkle was a Maryland ODP performer from 1998-2000. Whiteley, a forward, is a four-year starter from Southeast Guilford High School. She is a two-time all-conference selection and has also been named all-region. Whiteley has currently scored 40 goals with 37 assists at SE Guilford, helping the team to a conference championship last season. She played with Blake for the Greensboro Twisters Soccer Club. Wollaston, a 5-5 defender/midfielder, started five years at Ursuline Academy. She was a first team all-conference performer in 2003 and was honorable mention in 2002. She serves as captain as a senior. #######
