Men's Golf earns runner-up finish at SAC Championships

RT MILL, SC -- Carson-Newman College took home the 2004 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Men's Golf Championship which concluded on Wednesday afternoon at the Regent Park Golf Course in Fort Mill, SC. The Eagles shot an 875 (+23) on the par-71, 6,735-yard course and rolled to a 17-stroke victory over runner-up Catawba (892, +40). Carson-Newman also had the top two individuals, Tanner Davis (Kingsport, TN) and Matthew Cram-Smith (Perth, AUSTRALIA), for the tournament. Davis won the event after shooting a 215 (+2) over 54 holes while Cram-Smith finished +4 (217). Earning all-tournament honors were Davis, Cram-Smith, Presbyterian's Patrick Mitchell (Beaufort, SC), Catawba's Richard Lowe (Johnson City, TN), Tusculum's Sasha Catron (Greeneville, TN), Catawba's Steven Harvey (Salisbury, NC) and Carson-Newman's Josh Coley (Chattanooga, TN).
