Windett and Dunnuck help lead Lacrosse to DSC Tournament final

SALISBURY, NC -- Third-seeded Catawba College advanced to the finals of the 2004 Deep South Conference Men’s Lacrosse Tournament with a 19-14 win over second-seeded St. Andrews on Friday afternoon at Shuford Stadium and Kirkland Field. Catawba improves to 10-5 and will face top-seeded Limestone in Sunday’s 2 p.m. final. St. Andrews ends its season at 8-8.Sophomore Jason Windett (Magnolia, DE) and senior David Dunnuck (Greensboro, GA) each posted seven points to lead Catawba. Windett had five goals and two assists, while Dunnuck had four goals and three assists. Senior Justin Garrison (Charlotte, NC) also had four goals and added a pair of assists. Jimmy Herberson (Oakland Mills, MD) had seven goals to lead St. Andrews. Herberson scored three straight goals as St. Andrews rallied from a 5-2 deficit to take a 6-5 lead with 5:17 left in the half, but the Indians scored the final four goals of the period to go up 9-6 at the break. Catawba would outscore the Knights 7-1 in the first 11 minutes of the third quarter to grab a 16-7 edge.
