Baker, Southard and Wilson named All-State in Baseball

GREENSBORO, NC Three Catawba baseball players were among fourteen student-athletes named to form the 2004 North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) College Division All-State Baseball Team. The team consists of NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA student-athletes from North Carolina colleges and universities. Catawba was represented on the NCCSIA All-State squad by South Atlantic Conference Pitcher of the Year Thomas Wilson, infielder Matt Baker, the SAC Co-Player of the Year, and outfielder Spence Southard, the SAC Tournament MVP. Catawba posted a record of 42-17 and advanced to the NCAA Division II Regional for the first time. Wilson posted an 8-3 record and led the SAC with a 2.52 ERA and 133 strikeouts.
