Women's Soccer remains unbeaten with pair of shutouts

The Catawba women’s soccer team earned a pair of wins over the weekend, taking a 4-0 win over Concord and a 10-0 decision over Charleston, WV. The wins up the Lady Indians record to 3-0 on the year. Against Concord on Friday, Catawba took the lead in the 23rd minute as Jennifer Lowe (Enfield, CT) scored directly off a corner kick. Kyley Thompson (Hagerstown, MD) gave the Lady Indians a 2-0 lead at the break with a tally off an assist from freshman Paige Harrington (Albemarle, NC). Harrington would get a second assist as she helped on a McKenzie Burman (Rolesville, NC) goal in the 75th minute, while freshman Ashley Boles (Goldsboro, NC) got her first collegiate goal in the 86th minute. Kathleen Blake (Greensboro, NC) made three saves and shared the shutout with Cathrine Balentine (Charlotte, NC), who saw five minutes of action after returning from a knee injury suffered late last season. On Sunday, Catawba routed Charleston, getting hat tricks from three players. Harrington, Burman and Kelly Fearman (Allison, ONT, CANADA) as the Lady Indians led 7-0 at the break. Lauren Ebersole (Hagerstown, MD) also scored for Catawba. The Lady Indians held a 23-1 edge in shots with Blake making the lone save, sharing the shutout with Balentine, who played the final half. #####
