Men's Soccer Falls to #1-ranked Carson-Newman 2-0SALISBURY, NC Facing the #1-ranked team in NCAA II, the Catawba Indians couldnt register a goal against the best team in the nation, falling 2-0 to the Carson-Newman Eagles in South Atlantic Conference mens soccer action Saturday night at Frock Field. The Eagles stay perfect at 11-0, 4-0 in the SAC, while the Indians fall to 8-3, 3-2. Brad Collins (Vinton, VA) and Brad Cobbs (Rocky Mount, VA) hooked up twice in the first half for both Eagle tallies. The first goal came exactly two minutes in, the second goal came at the 33:31 mark. The Indians out-shot Carson-Newman 17-5 in the match, only allowing one Eagle shot in the second half. Nathan Zuzga (Troy, MI) and Gareth Turnbull (Christchurch, NEW ZEALAND) each fired four shots leading the Tribe. Catawba had many quality shots, but were unable to find the back of the net in the physical contest. Tyler Baldock (Surrey, BC, CANADA) made five saves in the shutout win.
