#20 Women's Soccer blanks Queens 2-0

SALISBURY, NC – Catawba College used two second-half goals in a 2-0 victory over the visiting Queens Royals in women’s soccer action at Frock Field on Wednesday night. The Lady Indians, ranked #20 in NCAA II, improve to 11-1-1 with their ninth shutout of the season. Queens drops to 6-7-1. Solid defense by Queens led to a scoreless first half. Catawba fired 11 shots but were unable to break through Royals goalkeeper Megan Mueller (Kingsport, TN) in the first 45 minute frame. Seven minutes into the second half, the Lady Indians fired three shots in 11 seconds with no goals. Ashley Boles (Ft. Bragg, NC) cranked a shot that was deflected by Muller. Sophomore Leigh Telzrow (Dallas, TX) took the deflected shot and kicked at a wide-open net only to have a Royal defender come in to make the team save. Lindsay Hinkle (Highland, MD) then took that rebound and blasted a shot off the left post. After 73:01 of scoreless soccer, Kim Crowley (Glendale, AZ) crossed a pass to Paige Harrington (Albemarle, NC) who picked up her 11th goal on the year. McKenzie Burman (Rolesville, NC) then took a pass from Harrington, bounced it off the left post and in, her team-leading 13th of the season. Cathrine Balentine (Charlotte, NC) made three saves picking up the shutout. Mueller made nine total saves for Queens.
