Swimming opens season with 118-69 win over Limestone

SALISBURY, NC Catawba College opened its swim season with a 118-69 winover Limestone on Friday night at Johnson Pool. The Lady Indians won 10 of the 11 events on the evening. Junior Erin Hyde (Lilburn, GA) won two individual event and helped the Lady Indians to a pair of relay swim wins. She took first in the 200 free (2:00.91) and the 100 fly (1:04.15) and swam on the winning 200 medley and 200 freestyle relays. Sophomore Lauren Smith (Seekonk, MA) and freshman Christine Ofslager (Midlothian, VA) also won a pair of individual events and swam on a relay win. Smith took a first in the 200 IM (2:24.40) and 100 breaststroke (1:16.40), while Ofslager won the 1000 free (12:13.89) and 500 free (5:56.08). Two other freshmen, Sarah Howard (Stafford, VA) and Leigh Spada (Shelby, NC) had a winning swim. Howard won the 50 free (27.42) and Spada the 100 free (56.71). Limestone earned a win in the 100 back as Jaime Madewell won in a time of 1:06.39. #######
