Cross Country ninth at regional, Willis earns spot at nationals

WINGATE, NC – Catawba College finished ninth out of 18 teams at the NCAA II Men’s Cross Country Southeast Regional at the Wingate cross country facility. Indian junior Ryan Willis (Jonesboro, GA) made its third straight trips to the NCAA Division II National Championships as he finished fifth in the meet. He will run on Nov. 20 at the University of Southern Indiana.

Willis, who earned trips to the national meet in both his previous two years, ran a time of 33:09 over the 10k course. He was 51 seconds behind winner Larry Marshall of St. Augustine’s. Mars Hill won the meet, while Lenoir-Rhyne was second. Both teams will qualify for the national meet. Sophomore Rori Godsey (Washington, DC) ran as an individual in the women's 8k and finished 15th in a time of 23:57.
