Women's Soccer earns region bid, faces North FloridaThe Catawba College women’s soccer team has been selected as one of four teams to participate in the NCAA II Southeast Region Tournament. The tournament will be held at Carson-Newman College in Jefferson City, TN. The Lady Indians, now 15-1-3, will face Peach Belt Conference Champion North Florida (12-2-3) at noon on Friday in one of two semifinals. Also playing on Friday will be host and top-seed Carson-Newman (14-1-2), the South Atlantic Conference Champion, who face fourth-seeded Clayton State (11-5-1). The region championship will be held on Sunday afternoon at noon. Catawba returns to the regional for the first time since 2002. The Lady Indians also made the NCAA II playoffs in 1997, winning the South Region title. Catawba has scored a school-record 71 goals this season and have allowed just 11. Sophomore McKenzie Burman (Rolesville, NC) leads the team with 16 goals, just one shy of the school record. Jennifer Lowe (Enfield, CT) has tied her school mark with 14 assists this year. #####
