Thomas earns SAC Baseball Player of Week honorROCK HILL, S.C. – Catawba College outfielder David Thomas and Tusculum College pitcher Brent Gable have been named the South Atlantic Conference Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, the league announced Monday afternoon. Thomas, a Catawba freshman, hit .467 for the week and collected seven RBI as the Tribe went 4-1 in its opening weekend. He had a key hit in the eighth inning of a tied game (8-8) in the opener, helping the Indians to an 11-10 win. He had four hits on Sunday in the Indians’ 21-13 victory, including a double and triple with three RBI. Gabel, a junior, shined in his Pioneer debut as he tossed a four-hit shutout in TC's 6-0 win over No. 29 Barry University. Gabel walked one and struck out five Buccaneer batters as he recorded a complete game victory. The SAC player and pitcher of the week are selected by the conference’s eight sports information directors. #####
