Baker's 12th inning double lifts Baseball to 6-5 win

SALISBURY, N.C. -- Senior Matt Baker (Charlotte, NC) delivered a game-winning, one-out RBI double in the bottom of the 12th inning to lift host Catawba to a 6-5 win over Pfeiffer in baseball action on Saturday afternoon at Newman Park. The Indians improve to 6-3 on the season, while the Falcons fall to 3-5. Bubba Morris (Salisbury, N.C.) had drawn a one-out walk in the 12th and moved to second on a wild pitch just before Bakerís winning hit. The hit was only the second for Catawba off Falcon reliever Ben Beard (Huntersville, N.C.), who tossed six and a third innings and surrendered just the one run. Pfeiffer drew first blood on Blake Jordanís (Haw River, N.C.) two-run homer in the second. Catawba battle back with single runs over five inning from the second to the sixth. One of the runs came on a solo home run by Jimbo Davis (Salisbury, N.C.) in the fifth. The Falcons tied the score in the eight on a two-run homer by Kyle Pugh (Asheboro, N.C.). Davis and Chad Baker (Jamestown, N.C.) led the Catawba offense with two hits apiece. Pugh, Mike McClain (Stoney Creek, N.C.) and Brian York (Midland, N.C.) each had two hits for Pfeiffer. Brian Benton (Wallace, N.C.) got the win for the Tribe, tossing two innings of scoreless relief. ######
