Cox named SAC Women's Basketball Player of the WeekROCK HILL, S.C. -- Catawba's Ashley Cox has been named the South Atlantic Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week league officials announced on Monday. Cox, a senior guard from Richmond, Va., averaged 23.5 points per game as the Lady Indians recorded a pair of South Atlantic Conference victories last week including Saturday’s 65-49 upset of Carson-Newman. The Bird High School graduate posted 18 points and five rebounds in Catawba’s 84-83 against Mars Hill. She also contributed three steals and three assists in the win. She followed that with a 29-point effort against Carson-Newman as she buried five 3-pointers and shot 8-for-8 from the free throw line. Her fifth trey, giving her 25 points, capped a run that gave the Lady Indians a 49-27 lead over C-N. The SAC Player of the Week is selected by a vote of the league’s eight sports information directors. #####
