Women's Basketball ends season with opening round loss to Newberry

SALISBURY, N.C. -- Fifth-seeded Newberry knocked off host and fourth-seed Catawba 73-59 in an opening round game of the Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Women’s Basketball Tournament at Goodman Gym on Wednesday night.  Newberry improves to 18-10 overall and advances to play top-seeded Wingate in one of Saturday’s semifinals.  Catawba ends its season at 17-11.  It also ended a 19-game winning streak by Catawba over Newberry.
