Waldroop ties home run mark as Softball wins three more at Catawba InvitationalSALISBURY, N.C. -- Catawba took three of four games over the weekend as the Lady Indians closed out play on Saturday and Sunday at the Catawba Invitational Tournament at Salisbury Community Park. The Lady Indians defeated WV Wesleyan 1-0 and Coker 3-0 on Saturday with an 8-0 loss to Lincoln Memorial. On Sunday, Catawba topped Queens 7-6. Catawba now stands at 11-8 on the year.Lindsay Ettinger (Pasadena, Md.) picked up all three wins on the mound with a pair of shutouts as she upped her season mark to 9-4. Jacqueline White (Mt. Ulla, N.C.) scored the lone run against WV Wesleyan after she tripled to lead off the third inning. Ettinger scattered six hits with a walk and strikeout in the win. Lincoln Memorial hit three homers in its 8-0 win. A three-run homer by Cassey Schutte, Springfield, Ohio) put the Railsplitters up 4-0 in the second. Catawba managed just two hits in the loss. Against Coker, Katie Phelps (Prince Fresderick, Md.) connected on a three-run homer in the fourth to account for all the runs. Lyndsey Gay (Cleveland, N.C.) had a pair of hits, while Ettinger struck out 10. On Sunday, Catawba rallied in the sixth, tying the score on a RBI by Jenn Mehl (West Creek, N.J.) and getting a two-out single by Lacey Waldroop (Franklin, N.C.) for the game-winner. Waldroop put the Lady Indians up 3-2 in the first with her fifth home run of the season, tying the school record. She collected three this with five RBI on the day. Only three of the six runs off Ettinger were earned. Gay, Jessica Rivera (Key West, Fla.) and Ashlee Rhoades (China Grove, N.C.) each had two hits. TOURNAMENT SCORES Friday Catawba 5, Mt.
