Volleyball heading to Tampa for South Regional

The Catawba College Volleyball Team will be making its first trip to the NCAA II playoffs, earning the automatic bid for winning last weekend's South Atlantic Conference Tournament. The Lady Indians (15-13), are seeded sixth and will face third-seeded North Florida on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. at the University of Tampa. The Ospreys enter the South Regional with a 25-7 record and are competing in the regional for the fifth time in the past six years. North Florida is coming off its third straight Peach Belt Conference Tournament title. They are led by 6-0, freshman hitter, Jackie Struck, who was the PBC Tournament MVP. She has 419 kills, while hitting at 44% and has added 148 blocks. Rachel LaRoche leads Catawba. The junior hitter was the SAC Tournament MVP and has recorded 345 kills, 183 digs, 72 blocks and 33 aces. The other South Region first round match pits Armstrong Atlantic against USC- Spartanburg. Barry will face the Catawba/North Florida winner on Friday, while host Tampa will take on the Armstrong/Spartanburg winner in the other Friday semifinal. ######
