Lefko powers Baseball to 13-10 win over Pfeiffer

SALISBURY, NC Tribe right-fielder Nick Lefko (Faith, NC) used a 2-for-4 performance with six RBI, including a grand slam, as the 25th-ranked Catawba Indians defeated the Pfeiffer Falcons 13-10 on Tuesday night baseball action at Newman Park. Catawba jumps to 26-14 overall, while Pfeiffer falls to 17-24. Jaime Tucker (Midland, NC) put the Falcons on the board in the second with a two-run shot to left, his first of two on the evening. Lefko smashed his grand slam in the second, part of a five run frame for the Indians. The Tribe put six up in the fourth, followed by two in the fifth as Lefko picked up two more RBI with a double, while Thomas Giles (Lynchburg, VA) smacked a couple of two-baggers on the night as part of his 2-for-3 outing. David Thomas (Winston-Salem, NC) smacked a two-run shot for the Tribe, while Aaron Rimer (Salisbury, NC) picked up an RBI-double to wrap up the Indian scoring. Pfeiffer attempted a comeback in the sixth, putting up a five spot of their own, as Tucker and Michael McClain (Stoney Creek, NC) smoked long balls for the Falcons. Tucker finished the night 3-for-5 with three runs batted in. Jeff Abdelnour (Cohoes, NY) tossed five and two-thirds innings for the Indians, picking up his team-leading seventh win of the season, scattering five runs on five hits. Falcon starter Tristen Covington (Virginia Beach, VA) picked up the loss, allowing seven runs on seven hits. ######
