Football game with Carson-Newman moves to Thursday night
SALISBURY, N.C. -- Catawba College and Carson-Newman have moved its football game to Thursday October 27 so that it can be carried live on Comcast Sports Southeast. Kickoff is now set for 7 p.m. CSS is the largest regional sports network in the United States, reaching 4.5 million homes over 11 states.
Catawba last played on live television during the 1995 season when it traveled to Liberty University. The Indians and Carson-Newman also played several live TV games on the ACTS Network in the late 80s.
Catawba last defeated the Eagles back in 2000 by a score of 13-10. The last two meetings in Jefferson City, TN, were shootouts as Carson-Newman won 40-34 in double-overtime in 2001 and 41-36 in 2003. Since 1993, either Catawba or Carson-Newman has won or shared the South Atlantic Conference championship. Catawba claimed the title in 2000 and 2001 and shared honors with the Eagles in 1996 and 2003. Carson-Newman was out-right champs in 1993, 1995, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2002 and 2004.
