Fall Sports Teams begin to report for 2005 seasonThe Catawba College football team reported for pre-season drills on Friday in anticipation of its 2005 season-opener at Winston-Salem State. The Indians, who qualified for the NCAA II Playoffs last season, will host Livingstone for its home opener on Sept. 3.Three fall sports teams will report on Tuesday as both soccer teams and volleyball will report for pre-season practice. The women’s soccer team tied a school record with 16 wins and advanced to the regional championship match last year. The men’s soccer team also earned a berth in the NCAA II playoffs in 2004. The field hockey team, with more than a dozen newcomers will report to campus on Aug. 12. Both soccer teams will open their seasons at Barton on Aug. 27. The women will first play at home on Aug. 29 vs. Charleston, WV, while the men will not see action at Frock Field until Sept. 14. Volleyball will open its season at Lenoir-Rhyne's Tournament on Sept. 2 and host Winston-Salem State on Sept. 6 for the home opener. Field Hockey will begin play on Aug. 28 at home vs. Rider. #####
