Volleyball takes one of two on final day of AASU Tourney

SAVANNAH, GA -- Catawba picked up one win in two matches on the final day of action at the 2005 AASU/Chatham Orthopaedics Pirate Volleyball Classic on Saturday. The Lady Indians fell in four games to #14 Florida Southern and swept Augusta State in three games to move to 5-4 on the year. Freshman Melissa Griffith (Williamsburg, VA) recorded 26 kills and 34 digs in the loss to nationally-ranked Florida Southern. Amanda Nantz (Troutman, NC) reached double figures with 10 kills, while setter Andi Henderson (Swansboro, NC) had 52 assists and three aces. Catawba fell 19-30, 20-30, 30-27 and 18-30. Nantz powered the Lady Indians to the 30-27, 30-26 and 30-23 sweep of Augusta State with 18 kills and three blocks. Griffith had nine kills, four aces and a team-high 15 digs. #####
