Burman's three tallies lead Women's Soccer to 5-0 shutout of USCA

SALISBURY, NC -- Catawba College junior McKenzie Burman (Rolesville, NC) scored three goals to power the Lady Indians to a 5-0 win over visiting USC0Aiken in women’s soccer action on Wednesday afternoon at Frock Field. Catawba improves to 3-2 with the win, while the Pacers fall to 3-1. Burman broke the ice about a half hour into the contest as she stole a pass from the foot of a defender and scored on a breakaway. Just over a minute later she headed home a free kick from Lauren Ebersole (Hagerstown, MD) for a 2-0 lead at the break. Carrie Wollaston (Landenberg, PA) found the net just six minutes into the second half, scoring directly off her own corner kick. Burman would fight off a defender in the box after taking a pass from Kyley Thompson (Hagerstown, MD) to complete her “hat trick” in the 79th minute. The final goal came from Ebersole as she drilled in a free kick from 25 yards out. Catawba out-shot the Pacers 15-7 with Kathleen Blake (Greensboro, NC) and Cathrine Balentine (Charlotte, NC) combining for the shutout. Blake made one save with Balentine recording two saves. Jacquelynn Hart (Aiken, SC) had four saves in goal for the Pacers.
