SALISBURY, NC -- Sophomore linebacker Ron Ellington (Charlotte, NC) set Catawba records with seven sacks and 11 tackles for losses as the Indians rolled past visiting Mars Hill 31-0 in South Atlantic Conference football action on Saturday afternoon at Shuford Stadium and Kirkland Field.  Catawba improves to 4-2 overall and 1-1 in the SAC, while Mars Hill falls to 2-3 and 1-1.The Catawba defense set the tone for the day, recording 11 sacks and holding the Lions to negative 36 yards rushing.  Ellington had six solo sacks and two halves on the day.  Three of his sacks came in the opening half when the Indians held Mars Hill to 34 yards and one first down.  The lone first down came on a 51-yard pass in the final minute of the first half.

Catawba grabbed the lead on the opening drive as Walter Horne (Statesville, NC) capped a nine-play, 59-yard march with a one-yard plunge.  A 19-yard run by Kory Fisher (New Bern, NC) brought the ball to the Lion three-yard-line.  The Indians got a 25-yard field goal from Rush Rollins (Kannapolis, NC) with 4:25 to go in the half and took a 17-0 lead at the break after Fisher caught a 23-yard scoring pass from Brad Roach (Williamston, NC) just 1:30 before the half.
