Turnbull's three goals sends Men's Soccer to 4-1 win

BELMONT, NC -- Catawba senior Gareth Turnbull (Christchurch, NEW ZEALAND) netted three goals as the Indians downed host Belmont Abbey 4-1 Tuesday afternoon in menís soccer action. The Abbey falls to 5-8-1 on the year, while Catawba improves to 8-3-1 overall. The Crusaders struck first only 3:13 into the match. Freshman Daniel Morrison (Dallas, TX) got past the Catawba defense and beat the keeper one-on-one for the 1-0 lead. The Indians tied the match in the 29th minute when Turnbull got on the end of a cross from Ryan Villiard (Holiday, FL) and deflected the ball in. After the break, Turnbull scored in the 52nd minute and made it a hat-trick in the 63rd for a 3-1 Catawba advantage. Villiard netted a goal of his own at the 71:38 mark to complete the scoring. Catawba held a 13-4 shot advantage and Seth Lowther (Garland, TX) made four saves for the Abbey. #####
