SALISBURY, NC -- Catawba College and Tusculum battled to a 0-0 draw in a match-up of nationally ranked squads in South Atlantic Conference women’s soccer action on Saturday night at Frock Field. Catawba entered the game ranked 14th in the nation and second in the NCAA II Southeast Region poll, while the Pioneers ranked 23rd nationally and first in the region. The Lady Indians now stand at 10-2-1 overall and 5-0-1 in the SAC, while Tusculum is 8-4-1 and 2-2-1.Each team had one quality scoring chance. Tusculum’s Amanda Linville (Cynthiana, KY) had a shot off the cross bar in the opening minute of the second half and Catawba’s Kelly Fearman (Alliston, ONT, CANADA) hit the post with 20 minutes remaining in regulation. Whitney Wardrop (Calgary, ALB, CANADA) made seven saves in goal for Tusculum, while Cathrine Balentine (Charlotte, NC) recorded four saves for the Lady Indians. "The game had two very committed teams who canceled each other out," stated Catawba Coach John Cullen. "It showed that there was very little between the two teams at the top of the rankings and a draw was probably a fair result."
