Volleyball falls at UNCP in five gamesPEMBROKE, NC -- Sophomore Rebekah Niesborella ripped 23 kills on 42 attempts to lead UNC-Pembroke to a 3-2 victory over Catawba in volleyball action Wednesday night in the Jones Center. With the win, UNCP moves to 8-15 on the season, while the Indians drop to 9-13 overall. The Braves won by the scores of 21-30, 32-30, 30-28, 21-30 and 15-11.Catawba jumped out to a decisive 1-0 advantage after defeating the Braves 30-21 in game one, but fell behind two games to one after UNCP won games two and three 32-30 and 30-28, respectively. The Lady Braves rallied to win game two after being down 18-26 halfway through the contest and used that momentum to earn the game three victory. The Indians, however, evened the match at two games apiece with a 30-21 game four conquest, but the UNCP rallied to take game five 15-11. Adding to Niesborella’s 23 kills was Rachelle Milbank who had 12, while setter Lexie Wood recorded 42 assists. Defensively, specialist Alex Cogdill posted 23 digs as Wood contributed 12. Both Niesborella and Sarah Harrison led the team with five blocks. Melissa Griffith, who had 24 kills, and Amanda Nantz, who posted 21, led Catawba, while setter Andi Henderson recorded 62 assists on the night. #####
