PC sweeps Volleyball 3-0

CLINTON, S.C. - Presbyterian College placed three players with double figure kills en route to a 30-20, 30-21, 30-17 victory over the visiting Indians of Catawba College in South Atlantic Conference women's volleyball action Friday night at the Ross E. Templeton Center. With the win, the Lady Blue Hose improve to 26-4 on the season and 12-0 in the league while Catawba falls to 10-14 overall and 4-8 in the SAC. PC hit .417 for the match as a team with seniors Jasmin Brown (Alpharetta, Ga.) and Erin Friday (Summerville, S.C.) both notching 16 kills and a pair of blocks apiece. Sophomore Lauren Mason (Peachtree City, Ga.) rounded out the double figure kill leaders for the Lady Blue Hose with 14. Freshman setter Rachel Lewis (Bloomington, Ill.), the reigning AVCA/NCAA Division II Player of the Week, continued her solid play directing the Lady Blue Hose offense with a match-high 47 assists. Both teams struggled with the serving game as they combined for 19 service errors on the night. PC held the advantage throughout the match as the lead changed hands only one in each game. Catawba was led on the night by a pair of freshmen in Melissa Griffith (Williamsburg, Va.) and Melissa Powers (Bennett, N.C.) who each tallied seven kills while sophomore Andi Henderson (Swansboro, N.C.) led the Indians with 22 assists. The Indians struggled at times offensively and hit .135 as a team for the match. Defensively, freshman Malorey Grove (Albany, Ind.) led the way with 16 digs from her libero position while Catawba was led by Griffith who tallied a team-best 12 digs. Catawba's libero, sophomore Missy Bartholomew (New Carlisle, Ind.) added 11 digs.
