Men's Basketball moves to 4-0 with win over Apprentice

SALISBURY, NC -- Catawba got a game-high 20 points from Brian Graves (Newport News, VA) and 17 points and nine rebounds from Helgi Magnusson (Reykjavik, ICELAND) as the 14th-ranked Indians defeated visiting Newport News Apprentice School 96-70 in menís basketball action at Goodman Gym on Saturday night. Catawba improves to 4-0 , while the Builders fall to 0-4. Catawba broke open a 41-30 game at the half with a big run to open the second stanza. The Tribe got three three-pointers and a pair of fast-break layups to take a 54-32 edge in the opening two minutes of the final half. Catawba shot 46% for the games and held a 49-36 edge on the boards. Jamel Hamiltoin (Virginia Beach, VA) also reached double figures for the Tribe with 13. Jonathan Martin (Afton, VA) tallied 20 points to lead the Apprentice School, while Warren Cherry (Norfolk, VA) added 10. #####
