Catawba broke the tie in the bottom half of the fifth on a two-run homer by Thomas. McClain delivered another RBI for Pfeiffer on a ground out in the seventh, but saw Catawba get the run right back on a solo home run by Matt Smith in its seventh.
Matt Smith and Thomas each had two hits for Catawba as did Jerry Sands (Clayton, NC) and Chad Baker (Jamestown, NC). Ryan Brown (Concord, NC) and Jodie Groce (Graham, NC) each had two hits for the Falcons.
