Swimmers set three school marks in Friday action at the BGMC
Catawba stands in fifth place after two days of the Blue Grass Mountain Conference Championships. The Lady Indians have a total of 207 points with one day remaining. Johns Hopkins leads the way with 435 points, followed by Wingate (416), SCAD (289) and Transylvania (389).
Senior Erin Hyde posted a pair of top five swims to earn all-conference honors in both the 100 fly and the 100 back. Hyde’s time of 59.27 in the 100 fly was a school record and earned her a third place finish. She was fourth in the 100 back, clocking in at 1:01.84.
Leigh Spada narrowly missed the NCAA cut with a swim of 1:57.47 in the 200 free. She finished ninth in the school record swim. Margeaux Doiron swam to all-conference honors with a fifth place finish in the 400 IM. She swam a lifetime best time of 4:49.75.
Mollie Landers and Christin Ofslager also posted lifetime best swims on Friday in the 1000 free. Ofslager was seventh in a time of 11:22.00, while Landers was 12th with a time of 11:24.13. The 800 free relay team of Spada, Hyde, Kira Capano and Ofslager posted a school record swim of 8:04.63 and finished fourth.
