Haverty earns medalist honors as Women's Golf takes fifth at McAmis Inv.

GREENEVILLE, TN -- Central Arkansas posted a two-round 643 to edge Pfeiffer by one stroke to win the 2006 Agnes McAmis Memorial Women's Golf Invitational which concluded on Tuesday.  Tusculum hosted the event at the 5,804-yard, par-72 Link Hills Country Club.  Catawba's Paige Haverty claimed medalist honors while establishing three tournament records.

Haverty shot a 36-hole record 148 to win by eight shots over UCA's Christina Lecuyer and Lorie Warren of Belmont, who each fired 156.  Haverty's final round 71 tied a tournament record for lowest 18-hole score, matching the 71 posted by Stephanie Hicks of Longwood in 2003.  Haverty's Tuesday tally was the lowest second round score in the nine-year history of the tournament.

Belmont finished third with 646, while West Georgia posted a fourth place showing with 653.  Catawba made the biggest move of the day as the Lady Indians fired a second-day low 315 to shoot 654 and finish fifth.  Wingate's Beth Kirkham and Britany Beltran of Pfeiffer each posted 157, joining Haverty, Lecuyer and Warren on the McAmis Memorial All-Tournament team.
