Puccio Earns All-Deep South Lacrosse Honor
ROCK HILL, SC -- Catawba defender Matt Puccio (Oakton, VA) was the lone Indians representative on the 2006 Deep South All-Conference team. The junior was selected as a second team performer. Puccio, a former standout at Oakton High School, was second on the team with 45 ground balls and led the team with eight takeaways.
As a defender, the junior also added a goal and four assists. Mars Hill College sophomore attack Andrew Chapman, who led the Deep South Conference in goals and points per game and helped lead the Lions to their best record in school history, was named the Deep South Conference Player of the Year, the league announced today. St. Andrews Presbyterian College rookie goalie Nate Hull, who had a 9.29 goals against average and a .543 save percentage, was named Freshman of the Year. Belmont Abbey College head coach Rob Horrigan, who guided the Crusaders to a sixth-place finish with four conference wins in the team’s first season, was named Coach of the Year.
