Catawba Head Athletic Trainer Appointed to Board of Athletic Trainer Examiners


Raleigh, NC – The General Assembly of North Carolina, acting upon the recommendation of Senate President Pro Tempore Marc Basnight, has appointed Robert Casmus, head athletic trainer at Catawba College in Salisbury, North Carolina, to the North Carolina Board of Athletic Trainer Examiners.

This board, authorized by the General Assembly in 1997, issues the occupational licenses to athletic trainers in North Carolina. Mr. Casmus earned his undergraduate degree in Health Education from Temple University in Philadelphia and his graduate degree in Exercise and Sport Sciences from the University of Arizona in Tucson.

Bob CasmusAfter moving to North Carolina, Mr. Casmus was head athletic trainer for five years at Chowan College in Murfreesboro before moving to Catawba College to become head athletic trainer there, a position he has held since 1990. Mr. Casmus is a nationally certified athletic trainer through the Board of Certification in Omaha, Nebraska, a licensed athletic trainer in North Carolina and is a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association and the North Carolina Athletic Trainers Association.

Bob also serves on the board for the NATA Research and Education Foundation and is a member of the Board of Certification Examination Development Committee. We are so very happy to have Bob appointed to the board, said Kevin Allran, board president. I have known Bob for many years and know of his commitment to this profession and to improving standards for all athletic trainers. He will work hard and be a tremendous asset to the board. Bob Casmus and his wife, the former Teresa Moore, resides in Salisbury. They have a son, Will.
