Fearman's late goal lifts Women's Soccer over Mars Hill
SALISBURY, NC -- Senior Kelly Fearman (Alliston, ONT, CANADA) scored the second of her two goals with just under eight minutes remaining to lift the Catawba Indians to a 3-2 win over visiting Mars Hill in South Atlantic Conference women’s soccer action on Saturday night at Frock Field.
The win improves Catawba to 7-1-1 overall and 1-0-1 in the SAC, while the Lady Lions fall to 7-3 and 1-2. The win capped a soccer reunion day where Catawba honored its former players and coaches. Fearman put Catawba on the board with a tally in the ninth minute, but Mars Hill answered with a pair of goals in a four-minute span to take the lead.
Alicia Blaha (Rapid City, SD) tied the match at the 12:34 mark and Jasmine Riley (Arlington, VA) followed in the 17th minute to give the Lady Lions the lead.
Freshman Julie Wilson (Norkolk, VA) scored the equalizer for Catawba in the 35th minute as the teams went to the half knotted at 2-2. The score remained tied until Fearman scored at the 82:14 mark with the game-winner.
