Volleyball goes 1-3 at PBC/SAC ClashAIKEN, SC -- Catawba College claimed one win in four matches at the PBC/SAC Volleyball clash on Friday and Saturday. The Lady Indians opened action with a win over Augusta State, but would lose their final three matches of the tournament. The results leave Catawba with a 2-3 record. Catawba used a balanced attack in the win over Augusta on Friday. Freshman Crystal Bonner (Yadkinville, NC) led the way with eight kills, while fellow freshman Elizabeth Hewitt (Hickory, NC) and junior Rachel LaRoche (Wilmington, DE) added seven each. LaRoche also added four aces. Later on Friday, the Lady Indians fell to USC- Spartanburg. LaRoche and Hewitt each had 10 kills in the loss, with LaRoche adding another four aces. On Saturday, Catawba win the opening game from UNC-Pembroke, but would lose the next three. LaRoche had 11 kills and 11 digs, while Hope Miller (Newton, NC) had nine kills and 19 digs. In the final game, the Lady Indians fell to USC-Aiken. LaRoche, Hewitt and Megan Bowman (Hagerstown, MD) all had eight kills, with Bowman adding 13 digs. MATCH SCORES Catawba d.
