Howard Keys Women's Basketball to Win Over Saint Paul's
SALISBURY, NC -- Junior Ne'Keithia Howard (Macon, GA) led a balanced Catawba attack with 12 points in an 82-60 win over visiting Saint Paul’s in women’s basketball action on Saturday night at Goodman Gym. It marked the sixth straight win for the Catawba Indians as they improve to 6-1. The Tigers fall to 1-4.
The Tigers held a brief early lead, but Catawba used a 21-4 run to take control. Howard scored eight points in the run that saw Catawba grab a 25-12 lead at the 8:46 mark of the opening half. Catawba took a 35-21 lead to the break. The Lady Indians led by double digits the entire second half and took their largest lead of 28 points at 78-50 with 1:45 left.
Thirteen Catawba players took part in the scoring. Corin Muldrow (Jacksonville, FL) also reached double figures with 10. Cristi Bartlett (Camden, NC) pulled down a dozen rebounds as Catawba held a commanding 61-41 edge on the boards. Hillary Hampton (Salisbury, NC), Cameron Clark (Albemarle, NC) and Brooke Whitley (New London, NC) all had nine points off the Catawba bench.
Juantale Cook (Upper Marlboro, MD) led the Tigers with a game-high 17 points. Gabrielle Johnson (Virginia Beach, VA) followed with 13 and Katrina Wright (Wichita, KS) tallied 11. The Tigers shot just 22% in the opening half and only 32% for the game. Catawba enjoyed a 58-13 edge in points off the bench.
