Three Named All-State in Volleyball
RALEIGH, NC -- Catawba College placed three players on the inaugural North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association College Division All-State Volleyball Team. Junior libero Missy Bartholomew (New Carlisle, IN) was a first team selection, while junior setter Andi Henderson (Swansboro, NC) and sophomore middle blocker Melissa Powers (Bennett, NC) were second team picks.
Bartholomew, of New Prairie High School, led Catawba and ranked third in the South Atlantic Conference in digs, recording 502 for a 4.92 average. She ranked 62nd in NCAA II in digs per game. The junior added 19 aces.
Henderson, of Swansboro High School, recorded 1,247 assists, averaging 12.23 per game. That total ranked second in the SAC and 25th in NCAA II. The 12.23 per game average set a new Catawba record. The junior added 95 kills 40 aces, 288 digs and 39 blocks.
Powers, from North Moore High School, set a Catawba records with a 34.6% hitting percentage and with 4.36 kills per game. She led the SAC and ranked 32nd in NCAA II in both categories. The sophomore totaled 445 kills and also led the team with 87 blocks.
