Men's and Women's Swimming Take Wins at Pfeiffer
MISENHEIMER, NC – Catawba picked up wins over host Pfeiffer in both men’s and women’s swim action on Friday night at Merner Gym. The Tribe men won 100-75, while the women took a 106-61 victory over the Falcons.
The men broke three records in their win. Patrik Drakes set a new mark in 200IM as he finished second with a time of 2:00.49. Grant Gibson set a 100 free record of 52.27 in his leadoff leg of the winning 400 free relay and Shane Alexander set a new 50 fly mark of 26.90 in the leadoff leg of his 200IM.
Gibson won his events in the 50 free (23.44) and the 200 fly (2:12.31) and was the only double winner for the Indians. Craige Hoffman claimed a win for the men in the 1000 free (11:28.57), Alexander won the 100 free (53.39) and Drakes won the 200 breaststroke (2:18.00).
Christine Ofslager, Emily Daniels and Leigh Spada each claimed two individual wins for the women. Ofslager won the 1000 free (11:23.59) and the 200 back (2:21.08), Daniels took the top spot in the 200 free (2:10.35) and 100 free (59.65), while Spada won the 50 free (25.61) and the 500 free (5:31.73). Kira Capano was victorious in the 200 fly (2:21.20).
