Women's Swimming defeats Guilford and Sweet Briar
GREENSBORO, NC – The Catawba College women’s swim team defeated both Guilford and Sweet Briar on Saturday. The Lady Indians capped the regular season with a 120-62 win over host Guilford and topped Sweet Briar 113-64. Both the Catawba men’s and women’s teams will next compete at the Bluegrass Mountain Conference Championships in Charlotte, NC, from February 14-17.
The Lady Indians claimed multiple individual wins. Christine Ofslager was victorious in the 200 free (2:21.09) and 100 back (1:13.07), while Kira Capano took the 400 IM (5:34.41) and the 100 free (1:05.29). Margeaux Doiron won the 100 fly (1:09.79) and the 100 breast stroke (1:24.47).
Also earning wins for Catawba, who won 10 of the 11 events vs. Guilford and nine of 11 against Sweet Briar, was Emily Daniels in the 50 free (30.35) and Leigh Spada in the 400 free (4:55.77). Spada, Ofslager, Capano and Doiron also combined to win the 400 free relay.
