Query, Link Named League Baseball Players of the Week
ROCK HILL, SC -- Catawba College catcher Ryan Query and starting pitcher Paul Link have been named the South Atlantic Conference’s Player and Pitcher of the Week. It was announced by league officials on Monday afternoon.
Query, from Kannapolis, NC, hit .571 for the week (12-of-21) and drove in seven RBIs for the Indians. The sophomore had two four-hit games this week and tallied two doubles and one homerun for the week. The former A.L. Brown High School star is batting .515 with 10 RBIs through the first nine games of the season.
Link, of Cleveland, NC, tossed seven strong innings in a 6-5 victory over number-one ranked Tampa University. The senior also picked up the victory by tossing 5.2 innings in a 3-0 victory over Pfeiffer University. The former standout at West Rowan High School posted a 3.29 earned run average while going 2-0 for the week.
The SAC Player of the Week is determined by a vote of the sports information directors in the league.
