Basketball Games at Lenoir-Rhyne to be Webstreamed Over the Internet
ROCK HILL, SC -- The Catawba and Lenoir-Rhyne men's and women's basketball doubleheader will be webstreamed live thanks to College Sports Television and their website, CSTV.com. The Catawba/Lenoir-Rhyne matchup is one of four doubleheaders slated for broadcast on Saturday as part of a new, three-year agreement between CSTV and the NCAA to webstream regular season Division II basketball games.
The women's game features two of the top women's teams in the league. Catawba currently stands second in the standings with a 9-4 conference record, while Lenoir-Rhyne is in a three-way tie for third with an 8-5 conference record. The men's game features two teams involved in a three-way tie for first place in the league standings. Lenoir-Rhyne is the defending conference champion, while Catawba was second last year, and was the SAC champion in 2005.
Saturday also marks the 50th anniversary of Shuford Gymnasium, and many activities are planned to commemorate that historic event. The games will broadcast at www.NCAASports.com/DII, beginning at 5:50 p.m., 10 minutes prior to the tipoff of the women's game. In addition to the live games, the Web site will feature stories, scores, blogs, video and audio that are dedicated to Division II sports, making it both a destination site for the live games and a place to obtain information on Division II sports.
This partnership with CSTV is the first of its kind for Division II and provides an amplified platform to highlight the division's contests and student-athlete accomplishments, while promoting the intercollegiate athletics philosophy for Division II member institutions.
