Green Named Deep South Lacrosse Player of the Week
WINGATE, NC -- Catawba College junior attack Kurt Green (San Diego, CA) and Mars Hill College sophomore goalie Nick Sigona (Auburn, NY) were honored as the Deep South Conference lacrosse Players of the Week. This week’s Player of the Week voting is for games played the week of March 5 - March 11. The DSC Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week are selected by the conference’s sports information directors.
Green recorded nine goals and dished out five assists to lead Catawba to a 2-0 overall record last week. Green scored six goals and assisted on two more, as the Catawba Indians defeated DSC opponent Saint Leo University 10-6. Catawba holds a 1-0 record in DSC play. He also added three goals and three assists in a 9-7 Catawba victory over Notre Dame de Namur University.
Sigona made 24 saves between the pipes for Mars Hill last week. The Lions went 2-0 with victories over Dominican College and DSC opponent Presbyterian College. For the week, Sigona recorded a .600 save percentage and picked up four ground balls. On the year, Mars Hill has a 3-3 overall record with Sigona defending the goal. He has 78 saves and a .527 save percentage, facing 232 total shots. Sigona was the DSC Defensive Player of the Week for the week of February 26 as well.
