Women's Soccer Loses 2-0 to AASU
COLUMBUS, GA -- Catawba suffered its second straight shutout loss, falling to 2-0 to Armstrong Atlantic at the CSU Classic on Sunday morning at the CSU Soccer Complex. The Pirates improve to 3-1, while the Catawba Indians fall to 2-2.
After a scoreless draw through the first half, Kristen Burton broke the ice with a goal in the 58th minute. Ten minutes later Kristen Savoy added an insurance goal and the eventual 2-0 final margin.
Armstrong Atlantic held a 10-4 edge in shots. Catawba keeper Kathleen Blake (Greensboro, NC/NW Guilford HS) recorded three saves.
"It was a much improved performance over Friday night," said Catawba coach John Cullen. "We came here and played two of the top teams in the region and found out alot about our team. We had a great chance to get the first goal, but it wasn't to be and their athleticizm wore us down a bit. Overall, it was a good learning curve for our new team this weekend."
