Women 4th, Men 5th at Rollins Winter Invite Swim Meet

WINTER PARK, FL -- The Catawba women’s swim team finished fourth and the men picked up a fifth-place finish at the Rollins Winter Invite.  The University of the Cumberlands won both the women’s meet, which consisted of eight schools, and the men’s meet in a field of seven teams.

The Catawba men were led by freshman Corey Rogers (Spartanburg, SC/Dorman HS), who won the 2000 breaststroke in a time of 2:14.27.  He also earned a third-place swim in the 100 breast (1:01.96).  Freshman Alex Walpole (Colorado Springs, CO/Cheyenne Mountain HS) was fourth in the 100 free (50.11).

Freshman Meredith Shultz (Richmond, VA/James River HS) had the top finishes for the women.  She was second in the 200 breast (2:35.34) and third in the 100 breast (1:12.94).  Kira Capano (Waynesville, NC/Tuscola HS) had a third-place finish in the 100 fly (1:04.73).  The 200 free relay team of Capano, Leigh Spada (Shelby, NC/Shelby HS), Katie Huff (New London, NC/N. Stanly HS) and Dana Jaremko (Willow Springs, NC/Wake Christian Academy) was second (1:45.92).
